New, 100% cotton and 100% hand-made batik, this 45" x 45" beautiful batik cloth features a fish pattern in the with red accents on a base of indigo and white - very good feng shui.  In China fish are a symbol of plenty and are a traditional part ofChinese New Year decoration. The Lotus flower symbolizes purity and perfection. Would be beautiful as a tablecloth, just framed and hung on the wall, in a quilt, cushions,or wherever your imagination brings you.  

Making Batik fabric paintings is a traditional Chinese art that combines painting and dyeing. Batik fabric paintings are designed by applying beeswax to cotton cloth in creative shapes. The art of making batik fabric paintings can be traced back to the Western Han dynasty (206 BC-24 AD). Although batik is virtually extinct in eastern and middle China, it can still be found in Western China where minority tribes such as Miao and Gejia tribes keep it alive. The colors are much deeper and more beautiful in person - the photo does not do the fabric justice.
