Loop end can be pulled open or closed like a lariat, allowing you to tie your horse up safely and securely. Will not tighten against pressure from the horse pulling back because it locks in place. Rope halter helps  in preventing your horse from learning to pull back. Knots work off of pressure points at the nose and poll. Fiador knot gives added strength. Pliable won't chafe your horses head.
