Prologue:

                    “I have been haunted the better part of my 43 years by a vision ^__ the vision of a faceless man standing over my baby crib looking down at me and crying, his tears falling into the crib.”

Chapter One:

“It must have taken great courage to pack up his young son Wilhelm, and his daughter Marlena, and send them off to be raised by his wife Anna’s Lutheran parents, known only to the children as Ohma and Ohpa.”

Chapter Two:

“All that remained of Robert for Marlena were her memories, some pictures, Robert’s birth certificate and me.”

                  “Your mama’s gone away for a little while,” he whispered as he pulled the covers down, “now you are going to have to take her place.”
