Turning the Tables uses an innovative new game system to simulate the Soviet Spring 1942 offensive to take Kharkov and the German counteroffensive ("Operation Fridericus"). The rules focus on command control and its limitations and introduce "C3I-Points". Combat resultion is unpredictable as both players have 20 Combat Chits to drastically alter the combat odds.
The situation itself is well suited for a simulation game since both players have the opportunity to attack and defend.
