Buy this exquisite newly crocheted doily. Created with a rose colored, #3 thread called Luster Sheen, in rows of shells.
Doilies were a practical and fashionable accent in Victorian homes. They were named after a famous French draper, Mr.D'Oyley, who encouraged their use to protect fine upholstery from the greasy hair oil sported by Victorian dandies. The legacy of lovely, lace-like creations is as warm and welcoming in the modern home as they were over a hundred years ago.
