Well, go dust off those old "78s", cause the "Composer" plays 'em. Go get your favorite "45" singles, cause it plays them too. The Crosley "Composer" comes with its own 45 RPM adapter. Now, get your Long Playing albums (LPs), cause it plays them too.

The "Composer" is a full size 3 speed Record Player that plays all 33 1/3 rpm, 45 rpm and 78 rpm records. It plays 7' 10" and 12" records. It's 45 rpm adapter has it's own mounting slot, so you will never lose it.

The "Composer" is a belt driven turntable, so you do not need to worry about stripped gears, or the motor burning out, which are both so expensive to repair. The belt is easy to replace and costs under $10.00.

The "Composer" has a straight tone arm for accurate record tracking, and minimum record wear.

The Record Player Stylus or Needle is a crucial part of the phonograph, as it is the one part of the system that actually contacts the recorded disc and transfers its vibrations to the rest of the system. It is the part which also suffers the greatest wear. There are two desired qualities in a stylus: first, that it faithfully follows the contours of the recorded groove and transfers the vibration to the system, and second, that it does not damage the recorded disc.

Sapphire needles are less expensive then Diamond needles but are good for only 50-75 hours of use. Diamond Needles are much more expensive but are good for 400-700 hours of use, depending on record condition.

Crosley offers the new NP3 state-of-the-art Diamond Stylus Replacement Needle, now made of high-grade ABS plastic composites. Even better than the original, each Crosley Replacement NP3 needle provides thousands of rotations for extended playing time.

The 2nd generation upgraded NP3 , using a short axis shape, follows the undulations of the record groove better than previous needles, and once again it is better than the original. This new shape and size allows the needle to play 33 1/3, 45 and 78 RPM Records.

We do not sell Refurbished Crosley "Composer" Entertainment Centers (neither does Crosley). It appears that a number of eBay sellers do, even though they might not call those models reburbished.

Many eBay sellers call refurbished models by other names ie: overstock models, open box models, surplus models, dealer display models, shelf models, factory tested recertified models, reconditioned models, second chance Crosley's, and unbelievably some of those sellers simply list them as NEW.

The problem with that, is that a refurb by any other name is still a refurb. It is really simple, a refurbished model is usually, nothing more than a customer returned item. An item that has been returned and repaired (maybe) at least once and very possibly repaired more than once. Many of those sellers claim that their Crosley "Composers" have been checked out 100% and that they all work fine, but if that is the case then why don't those sellers, offer any warranty on units that they say are in perfect working order? Yes, a few eBay sellers do offer a 3 day or 7 day return policy, (we have seen as high as 14 days) but the buyer has to pay to send the entertainment center back, and there is generally a restocking fee to boot. The real question is, why was it a return in the first place?

These are Entertainment Centers that have been shipped from Crosley to a Dealer, then to a buyer, then back to the dealer, then to another dealer or a Refurbisher that bought the return, and then finally to the new buyer. It is no wonder that those models sell for as low as $29.00 on ebay.

Crosley Warranty on reconditioned, refurbished, open box models, surplus models and/or display models: Zip, nada, none, not any, zero. The warranty if any, would have to come from the seller, and if the seller does not offer a warranty in his eBay listing, then they are being sold strictly As-Is. For the record Crosley is a great company, in fact one of the best that we have ever dealt with. They will bend over backwards to help ANYONE that purchases a product with the Crosley name on it. They will answer all questions to all consumers about any Crosley Product not matter where the Crosley product was purchased. Fact one: Crosley is the best manufacturer of Nostalgic Entertainment Centers in the world today. Fact two: Crosley does not sell Factory Refurbished models and therefore does not have any warranty on reburbished, reconditioned, surplus, open box, or "b" goods models. Crosley will always refer you back to the seller that you purchased from, when it comes to warranty on those type of models.

Nothing takes the fun out of buying on ebay more than a buyer receiving a defective item or a cosmetic flawed item. Be careful and be safe.

There is no warranty from Crosley on any refurbished Crosley "Composer" sold on eBay, no matter what the auction listing states. The Warranty from Crosley on a Brand New "Composer" CR247 through an Authorized Crosley Dealer is for up to one year (Parts and Labor). Most of these Entertainment Centers that are listed on eBay as surplus models or in many cases as new models have no warranty information listed. If the eBay auction listing does not state that there is a 1 year warranty on the Crosley "Director" or if the listings states that there is a 30 day or a 90 day warranty, then the "Director" you are buying is NOT new.

Overall the best advise that I can give the Crosley Buyer, is to stay completely away from all refurbs and open box models, especially in 5-in-1 systems that have a CD Recorder, where there is a lot that can go wrong, it is just not worth the grief.
