The natural direction of life is that of the Spiral, a balanced, continuous movement winding towards the Center and releasing outward again. The Spiral was a Sacred Symbol to all primitive peoples. It demonstrated the eternal rhythm of Life of which we are all a part of. The Triple Spiral design is unique to the Celtic peoples. This ancient design adorns their most sacred places and represents the trinity of live in its many forms, such as body, mind, and spirit. Most significantly, it represents the Goddess of these matriarchal people in her forms of Maiden, Mother, and Old Wise Crone. The single line of the Triscele interlaces within itself representing the thread of life woven by the Three Fates. This eternal spiral symbolizes the path of one‘s spirit through the course of Life, Death, and Rebirth. Following the spiral path with your mind can induce a meditative state leading to transcendence from the mundane to the spiritual!
The design style of this “Danann Triad” is called “vegetal” as it is composed of stylized vines and leaves. This design is based on one found on a bronze relic called a horn cap (the handle on a chariot or saddle) which was found in the Thames river and dates to about the fourth century BC. Symbolically, the vegetal style reminds us to respect nature and all forms of life therein.
This Danna’s Triscele pendant helps the wearer remember that every plant, animal, and being encountered is the housing for a Soul on its path towards the Enlightenment of the Ceugant.
