DAYSTAR Wood Crochet Hook: ~Agatewood HARDWOOD~ Size K+

I hand-turned this hook from dyed and laminated hardwood that's been impregnated with resin and densified, thus made extremely strong and durable, and also resistant to temperature variations and moisture. I chose "Agatewood" for this piece; the colors are so zen and relaxing to look at. I particularly like the way the indigo blue stands out so beautifully, like a desert oasis rising out of the sand.

I like this particular hook because of the lovely shapes. To a turner, the best complement isn't "the colors are beautiful" but that "the form is beautiful." Woodturners often try to visualize a piece as if it were spray-painted black, because the form is the very most important part of the piece... and something that isn't easily achievable, even for turners with many years practice. To make a long story short, I think this hook turned out to be absolutely GORGEOUS! The lines are lovely, the details just perfect -- and the colors and layers of Dyed Hardwood accentuate the curves effortlessly. Of course, the entire piece is smooth as glass! Size K+ (7 mm), eight and one-quarter inches long. Heirloom quality.
