One of my special custom colors, "Constellation"** Dyed Hardwood is the sky at night -- black upon black, the stars the only voices in the darkness, calling out to each other, to nearby galaxies and nebulae, creating their own music in the heavens. Being an astronomy fanatic, I inlaid a pattern representing the Orion constellation, complete with M42, Bellatrix, Rigel, and Betelgeuse, among others. Tiny crushed Kingman Turquoise gemstones bring the stars to life!
This dyed and laminated hardwood has been impregnated with resin and densified, thus made extremely strong and durable, and also resistant to temperature variations and moisture. Smooth as glass!

The barrette is backed by the highest quality "Made in France" metal clip, which is approximately three and three-quarter inches long. Total length of the barrette is just over four and one-half inches. Curved for comfort: heirloom quality. This barrette is engraved on the back with my signature/artist's mark.

They're not simply ornamental -- they are fully functional tools and ornaments created with the finest materials and techniques in order for you to have a tool that is both beautiful and works comfortably and efficiently at the same time... just as it should.
** About Daystar Custom Colors: Not the standard composites, I have specially ordered these color combinations directly from the manufacturer of Dymondwood (TM). The color choices are derived from my own desire to create beautiful colorways in the same way I would with my fiber arts projects. I've never seen the combinations online or anywhere else for that matter -- they've all come from my own heart and mind, and I hope you enjoy them!
