You are bidding on a great J.C. Deagan Xylophone. It is marked "J.C. Deagan Inc. Chicago Patented" in the metal. One of the bars is also marked "Deagan Lite Wite No. 834 Xylophone". The patent tag on the side has the year 1926 as the last date listed. There are 37 beautiful rosewood bars. All in good condition with only minor surface wear. Also, included are 4 mallets. Two measure 11 1/2" in length and the other two measure 14 1/2" in length.
The xylophone itself measures 35" (L) x 23" (W) x 24" (H). It also has 4 leg extenders that add another 10" to the height. The metal frame folds up and the whole instrument comes apart to fit into a box for shipping.
My dad found this great instrument and did replace a couple of things. The cord that runs between the bars and the rubber on the pegs that holds each bar. I'm not sure if that will affect the sound, and I don't know if it is in tune. It is my understanding that it was played in a local High School band during the 1930's or 1940's.
Please email with any further questions. I don't have an exact weight on this item yet, but it should be around 30 lbs. After the auction and the instrument is packed for shipping, I will send an invoice with exact shipping costs. For US buyers, I will be using USPS Priority or Parcel shipping. For International buyers, I will be using USPS Priority International shipping. |
