THIS IS A SEVEN-DAY, NO RESERVE, AND INTERNATIONAL COLLECTIBLE BRIAR PIPE AUCTION.PLEASE CLICK HERE TO VIEW ALL OF THE OTHER BEAUTIFUL, NEW, OR FULLY RESTORED AND RECONDITIONED HIGH GRADE COLLECTIBLE PIPES THAT I HAVE LISTED FOR AUCTION THIS WEEK ON EBAY!Here is some background information on Horace DeJarnett that was written in his own words:For over 40 years I worked in the grocery industry. In 1984 I founded my own food brokerage business. It prospered and grew into a multi-state corporation. In 1999 I sold my portion of the business and retired.Due to health concerns and public scrutiny, I quit smoking cigarettes in 1993 and took up the pipe. (I believed then – and still do – that health risks are greatly reduced by not inhaling and just puffing.) Serious pipe-smoking is conducive to day-dreaming, and thus the idea of making my own pipes became a quest. I was fortunate to study under Andrew Kovacs, a well-known carver in Northern Arizona (trade name “Jandrew”) for about a year, off and on. I learned a lot of the basics from Andy, but some of my best counsel came via long telephone conversations with Mark Tinsky. Over the years I have made and sold approximately 1,000 pipes, most of them here in the United States, but I do have customers in Indonesia, Germany, Japan, England, Israel, Canada, and Thailand. What began as a hobby has become my passion. I lost my leg in 2001 due to a blood clot, so fortunately for me, I have an occupation that is “handicap friendly”. I had met Horace through the internet, after he got in touch with me, asking my opinion of what I had thought about his pipes. After I looked at his website, I was really impressed with his level of craftsmanship as well as his passion for pipes. When a pipe maker is carving out of passion, the results show. I was insistent that he send me some pipes to list on eBay, as I had felt that this may help him to gain a wider exposure to the pipe collecting community. The gorgeous pipe that is being listed is a result of this continued exchange. It is impressive, both in the level of craftsmanship, execution of design and beauty of grain. About this amazing pipe:
You are bidding on a BRAND NEW & UNSMOKED pipe that was hand carved by Horace DeJarnett of Arizona. This amazing large "Bent Egg" shaped pipe sculpture possesses a beautiful flame grain that flows around the chestnut stained bowl. This pipe is stamped as the 75th pipe that he has carved this year in 2009. Horace has a simple grading system for his pipes. AAA for his highest grade, the briar is flawless. An "Eagle" stamp is his second highest grade - gorgeous wood but with a flaw or two. Everything else does not carry a grading stamp. This one is graded as an "Eagle".All bowl stampings are laser etched, rather than just stamped onto the pipe. This looks so much nicer than stamping. It is much more defined. This gorgeous and graceful looking pipe was crafted from Algerian briar, which many think is the best tasting briar available in the world. This pipe feels exceptionally comfortable in the hand. It possesses a perfect balance and an easy draft. A pipe cleaner will glide with ease to the bottom of the bowl. The thick walls will assist in providing a very cool experience. This pipe promises to deliver an exceptional experience, as well as draw favorable comments, wherever you may enjoy it! Here are the dimensions of this gorgeous GOOD-SIZED pipe: The overall length measures 7.0”. The bowl height measures 2.325”. The tobacco chamber is about 0.725” in diameter and tapers down the bowl’s 2.0" inner depth. Capacity is similar to that of a solid Group 6 to ODA size Dunhill pipe. This awesome pipe weighs 110 grams. The original pipe sleeve is included. Please do not miss this special opportunity to own and enjoy this passionately crafted masterpiece!Once again, this is a seven day no reserve pipe auction. I do not believe in "Reserve" or "Buy it Now" prices. I want the lucky high bidder to own and enjoy this pipe and not have him frustrate himself with bidding on a pipe that is not attainable on a price basis! Just be the high bidder at the close of this auction, and you will win what could again prove to be the best pipe in your collection! Please read and review my eBay ratings and comments. Check out the "ME" section after my eBay name "coopersark". I think that you will find this information very informative and telling! Please feel free to send me an e-mail with any questions that you may have about this pipe. I want you to bid with the highest of confidence! I use only the best of packaging materials. The pipes that I ship have too much time and labor lavished on their restoration and presentations as well as the many of these pipes are irreplaceable works of art. I am not going to risk damage by using lesser packing. (In my nine years of selling pipes on eBay and shipping thousands of pipes around the world, not a single pipe has been damaged!) I also try my utmost to ship your pipe the same day that I receive your payment, even if this means making a special trip to the Post Office just for you alone. The Registered parcels that ship overseas take extensive time with both the packaging and four forms of documentation that must be filled out. Unfortunately, this all has to be reflected in my shipping costs, so please bid accordingly. The winning bidder will include an additional $10.00 for Priority Mail shipping, tracking, and insurance. (Foreign bidders will include an additional $12.00 for International Priority Air Mail shipping.) Thank you for your interest. Please do not forget to check out my other auctions! Good Luck and Happy Bidding!!!!
