DELBEN GUILLOTINE with CASE : very rare well built

This is a DELBEN (THAT IS RIGHT, BEN STONE'S DELBEN) guillotine with custom case.  Deblen was famous for his jumbo die boxes (i will list one of these shortly), flat model money makers and two hole wrist choppers but i never knew he made guillotines until i ran across this one.  Ben Stone (owner and builder of Delben products) is well known for his incredible word workmanship and limited quantity of items built.  He was one of the finest magic manufacturers of the 60 and 70's.  For his more expensive items, a case was always available and the case you get with this was custom built specifically for the guillotine by Ben as well.  THe prop fits in the case perfectly as you would expect.

this prop is substantially built and is almost 7 feet tall. it sets up and breaks down in less than one minute!  it is well thought out from its polyurethane stops to prevent damage when folded to the handle designed specifically to load it into the case.  the blade appears to have a serrated edge.  the bottom blade locks into place and is released by the top blade as it falls via the solid wood guides buit into the channel of the guillotine.  it is one of the finest props of this kind made with the normal beautiful patina associated with Delben items.  His die boxes usually sell for $450 to  $500 and his two hole wrist choppers for $800 to $1000.  that makes the buy it now price on this one quite a steal in my opinion.

the case has bumps and bruises and the hinges have been replaced but has done its job well over the past number of years as the guillotine itself is in very good condition as you can see from the photos. not often that you get a collectible beautifully built illusion but this one fits that bill.  of course, it is hallmarked.
