Whats wrong with these units?

These adapters are not recognized by the motherboard, thus the board does not allow the adapters to charge the battery.  This is a common issue with PA-10 and upwards dell adapters.  Some possible fixes include: A motherboard BIOS update, replacing the middle pin in the adapter head with a longer one, and trying the adapter in a different computer. 

These items power a laptop just fine, sometimes they give an error message on startup, they are good spare units to have around.
