Denman and Goddard Ltd. was founded in 1853 and was described as "Tailors and Drapers". The oldest part of the company Hicks & Sons was founded in 1797 and traded extensively in Canada and The United States of America before being incorporated into Denman & Goddard Ltd. during the latter part of the last century.

With its long and strong connections with Eton College, the company has numbered many famous people amongst its clients, particularly in the fields of politics and the professions. Royal Warrants were held for Their Majesties King George V and King George V1 for the provision of Livery to servants of the Royal Household. At the present time it is responsible for the supply and maintenance of livery worn by the ceremonial gatekeepers of the Royal Enclosure at Royal Ascot Racecourse.

These is a truly world-class garments. Each jacket is individually cut by hand. the facings are basted by hand, the collars are completely handsewn, the sleeves are attached by hand, - forty hours of tailoring goes into each jacket. There is up to 2000 stitches just on the lapel, the jacket is hand cut, and the interlining is hand sewn, which is the best method, not fused, so the front will never "bubble".There are great details, all over, all buttonholes are reinforced with a double twisted silk thread. The lapel buttonhole is functional.  With up to 60 hours of hand work, only on the lapel there is close to 2000 stitches, hand made button holes, etc.
