Synopsis
An intimate account of the life and marriage of Diana, the Princess of Wales. Born into a wealthy but obscure aristocratic family in the south of England, Diana came into sudden prominence when she married Prince Charles, the heir apparent to the British throne, in 1981. Her subsequent divorce and eventual death in an automobile accident made hers one of the most publicized lives of modern times. Morton, working with information supplied by the Princess herself, describes her frustration with palace life and her struggles against depression and bulimia.

Publisher's Note
In a shocking, headline-making story (coming as an NBC TV movie), Andrew Morton goes beyond speculation to present the facts about Princess Diana and her royal marriage--written with the full cooperation and support of Diana's family and friends, who speak freely in a sizzling, insider's tell-all. "Startlingly candid".--People. Includes never-before-seen photographs.

DIANA, HER TRUE STORY~IN HER OWN WORDS, Completely Revised Edition by Andrew Morton is a used 288-page hardcover book (no dustjacket) and is in fair to good condition. Cover has some shelfwear and edge rubbing. Contents are clean and tightly bound. I can detect a faint odor of cigarette smoke in the pages. Book is illustrated with colorful photographs. I have scanned a picture of some of the photos rather than the plain front cover of the book. Published by Simon & Schuster 1997.

This biography of the Princess of Wales is unique in that the story contained in its pages would never have appeared had it not been for the wholehearted co-operation of Diana. The story is based on lengthy, tape-recorded interviews with Diana, supplemented by the testimony of her family and friends. Like Diana, they spoke with honesty and frankness in spite of the fact it meant laying aside the ingrained habits of discretion and loyalty which proximity to royalty invariably engenders.

Diana may now be gone, but her words are with us for ever. One of the abiding sadnesses of her short life was that she never truly had the chance to 'sing openly.' This is her life story as she wanted to tell it and is the nearest we will ever get to her autobiography.
