Blavatsky quotes from and uses this specific edition in her SECRET DOCTRINE , thus this is a "Secret Doctrine Reference Series" book originally reprinted and intended for Blavatsky students who want to do their own research using the same books Blavatsky had to hand as well as other students who wish to do their own comparative work. This translation was also reset in 1884 with an additional Introduction added by Hargrave Jennings.
