A Headcollar is like a halter for horses, only dog-size. It fits on the dog's head with a noseband that goes over the muzzle. Its revolutionary design is based on the same principle as a horse’s headcollar - if you guide the head, the body will surely follow. It's very soft, wide web nylon, and comes in several different sizes.The Headcollar for dogs puts people back in control. Leads dog by the nose and tightens around the head.     The History of Headcollars
    There is nothing new about leading animals by the head: the Incas had headcollars for their llamas 1000 years ago; in Ancient Egypt they were used for leading camels and riders have guided their horses by the head for over 4000 years.

    Cart dogs with leather headcollars were used in Belgium during World War One and in Switzerland a figure eight headcollar was traditionally used to train Bernese Mountain Dogs as cart dogs.

    Dr Roger Mugford who designed the Halti nearly 20 years ago has regularly managed carthorses, bulls and sheep with various designs of headcollars. When he was confronted with giant, strong breeds like an Irish Wolfhound which he calls Ben, he tinkered with the straps to create the first British design of a canine headcollar: the Halti....which was the "original" headcollar on which this collar is based

    Headcollar Sizes indicated below are for typical adult dogs - If you have a young dog, a female, or a smaller sized example of your breed, choose one size smaller than listed.  It is important to have the correct fitting for every dog - see instructions inside the packaging-headcollars are not recommended (NR) for some breeds with very, very small or short snouts....some breeds fall "in between" a size...if your dog is small for the breed get smaller size, if larger get larger size.

    Sizing recommended by weight and breed.

     Note: this product will not work on flat-faced breeds or breeds with short muzzles.
