DR Handmade Fat Beam Tite-Fit Stainless Steel Medium Gauge Marcus Miller Signature Bass Strings. These strings are round wound and constructed upon a round core. Tite-Fit strings use a compression-winding process that actually uses more metal than you would think. A bass string that starts out at a gauge of .108 ends up at .105 after compression-winding. To add a little more detail. The .105 strings start with a core wire of .022, the first wrap wire is .009 x 2. The second wrap wire is .014 x 2, and the third wrap wire is .020. The total before winding is .108. The total after compression-winding is .105. This gives DR strings a longer life and a brighter edge.
