Dramatic Vintage 60s/70s HAWAIIAN
Hibiscus Border Print FISHTAIL Dress S/M

A very dramatic long fishtail Hawaiian dress or hola mu'u. Hourglass in shape, emphasized by the curve-seamed gathered skirt from below the knees, flaring out and dipping down lower in the back. This beauty was home-tailored by someone who knew what she was doing. The use and placement of the double hibiscus border print is very deft and clever.

The center front panel, which extends straight down to the floor, is of the off white, orange rust and pale gray hibiscus border. The side panels and sleeves of the gold, orange rust, and pale gray. On the back it's entirely the same fabric as the center front panel. For the fishtail skirt, both are used, and positioned so there's a cascade of gold hibiscus trailing off the end of the fishtail. On the sides of the fishtail, again the white is used to set of the sides. Really wonderful. The fabric is cotton, with a somewhat crisp hand. Long nylon zipper down the back. The sleeves are small cap sleeves with elastic on either side so they can be worn a bit off the shoulder if you choose. I love the pointed details on the bodice right in front of each sleeve.

Condition: Excellent, no flaws.
