This essence was made from the leaves, twigs and berries of the HOLLY tree. 

 The HOLLY tree (Ilex Aquifolium) is deeply connected in our hearts with the  winter solstice.  Holly is the Winter King and he rules over the cold season, having battled with and defeated his rival, the Oak King, at Yule.  He rules over the land until Midsummer (Litha), when he, in turn, is defeated by the Oak King.  This cycle of two-part rulership is an endless and inevitable part of the natural world.

 The images we have of the holly are buried deep in our natural psyche.  He is symbolic of Yule/Christmas yet has an older, deeper significance.  He is the Greenman, the Horned God, a symbol of resurrection, and the spirit of the dark.  A warrior god, he offers power, hope, strength, wisdom and immense protection.

This is a precious oil with a deep, meaningful and ancient association.  It is to be used during the winter months, especially at Yule. 

 The Holly King oil has many great powers.  Use it this season for the following purposes:

• Protection during the dark season, particularly against malignant sorcery
• Aids rest, reflection, learning, inner peace and contentment
• Allows us to access dreams from our deepest and most hidden places
