Sinopsis:
1954, Ernesto Guevara es un joven e idealista médico argentino. Está en Guatemala, involucrado en un intenso activismo político. Cuando el gobierno es derrocado, Guevara escapa a México, donde establece contacto con un grupo de cubanos revolucionarios. Allí, le presentan a Fidel Castro. El argentino se alista en una operación guerrillera para intentar sacar a Batista del poder en Cuba. En noviembre de 1956, Castro se embarca rumbo a esa misión junto a 80 rebeldes. Sólo veinte sobrevivirán, entre ellos Guevara, quien se ha convertido en un guerrero imprescindible.
