Danish Modern Credenza Chest Raymor storage Eames Era

Simply stunning pair of  Raymor Omnibus storage units. The ultimate in  flexibility and function  as you can use them in any number of ways -- set them together as a long credenza or sideboard  (which is perfect for under a plasma TV) or apart as nightstands, dressers or tables.  Excellent design with sculptural drawer pulls set right into the drawer face.  Gorgeous old teak with rich dark color.   Extra roomy "full scale" furniture made in the 1960s that is just as versatile and usable today. 


Superior workmanship, each is made to fine Danish woodworker's standards.  All wood construction with teak veneers.   This is one of the very few pieces we  have ever seen where the drawer front interiors are also finished.  The handles are meticulously inset within the drawer front.  Six super spacious drawers total.  Front and back drawer walls have  the original divider hardware attached.  There are a few of the original thin ply dividers and you can choose where you would like to place them. See photos. Back is unfinished wood.   Metal maker's tag is still attached to one chest,  "Crafted in Denmark for Raymor".  Designed by Sven Ellekjaer.


The original function was to work within the Omnibus system which was made to be either wall mounted or free standing.  Wall mount hardware is still in place, just unscrew the legs and (viola!) it's ready to hang. The new, custom made solid wood legs attach to an unobtrusive bolt identical the original Danish method.

Condition  is excellent and newly refinished.   The drawers are very clean, as they had paper lining all the years. Some of the drawer interiors have some paper residue.  There are some yellowed areas in the drawers that looks to be part of the wood grain pattern. Not a stain but it's a yellow color. 

We note -
--there are slots to place the drawer dividers but not as many dividers.  You may or may not want these in every drawer. We kept the slots in place so you can choose were you would like the dividers.
-- The drawers open close well but there is a slight hitch when closing, you just have to use both hands to close and give the drawer on top a little tug for them to close flush.   Rather minor but we did notice it.
--- A few small nicks and scuffs here and there.  A couple of bumps.
