We sold these chairs a few weeks ago on Ebay. The buyer (and current owner) subsequently found other chairs locally that suited their needs better so they asked us to consign this set for them. If you missed out the first time around, here is your shot at grabbing this amazing set.
Note: This auction is for EIGHT chairs. We have FOUR additional matching chairs that will be made available via an Ebay Buy It Now to the winning bidder if they would like them. It would be a very rare opportunity to have a set of 12 (yes TWELVE) matching chairs. See the last paragraph of the description below for additional info.
Outstanding set of 8 (eight) sculptural dining chairs designed by Kai Kristiansen, c. 1950s. We purchased 12 of these with the intention of using in our personal home. We ended up going with another table that will not accommodate them, so while we are cringing, we must let them go. I can attest to how difficult it is to find a stylish true vintage Danish Modern matching set of 12 chairs....it took us forever and we deal in this stuff daily.
The chairs are a very rich solid teakwood (finish on them is almost as a rich as a rosewood) with black naugahyde upholstered seat and back. These are a great design that look terrific from every viewing angle. They are well made with attention to detail and solid. The chairs design contours to your body providing a perfect seat for extended periods with the utmost comfort.
Each chair measures 30” high (floor to top of seat back) by 19 3/4” wide by 17 3/4” deep. The seat surface is 18” from the floor and measures 16 3/4” wide by 17” deep.
Overall the set is in excellent condition. There are some minor rubs to the wood here and there that one would expect for a dining chair of this vintage. The internal seat and back padding is fine with some seats being a little firmer then others, but all very usable and comfortable. If you do not care for the black color, these would a very easy upholstery job for you to have redone. Some of the chairs must have been around smokers at one point as traces of the smell are evident. Its not grossly awful and will likely fade over time as they have been cooped up in storage (especially with a little help from some fabreeze or the like.) However, if your very sensitive to this sort of thing then you would need to have them reupholstered to have it instantly disappear (the smell is not in the teakwood, its mostly in the seats as they have cloth undersides).
As noted above we have 4 additional chairs. Two of them need the upholstery to be redone as they have tears. A "buy it now" auction will be posted solely for the winning bidder if they would like them. Price will be discussed with the winning bidder and a very fair discount will be given for the two chairs that need redoing. If the winning bidder does not want them, then they will be available, so feel free to contact us to be put on a wait list.
Due to the size Continental US bidders only. Picking up from us is welcome otherwise we will ship via Greyhound Package Express or Freight.
For GREYHOUND: Shipping and packing cost would be $300.00 for the set of 8 chairs. They call you when its in and you pick up at your local station (some Greyhound locations will offer a delivery service for a fee, you would need to check with your location). Please note they only allow a maximum of $300 insurance (we have never had a problem with a package being lost etc.)
For DOOR TO DOOR FREIGHT: We suggest "blanket wrap" freight service via Plycon Vanlines or you may use another "blanket wrap" freight company of your choosing as long as they pick up from us. You can get a quote from Plycon online. Arrangements are to be made by you, the buyer (as they say, the less cooks in the kitchen, the better). They will need to be picked up in Los Angeles County Zip Code 91740.

PAYMENT
Payment from US bidders may be by Paypal, Check, or Money Order. Payments MUST be mailed and “postmarked” or made via Paypal within THREE (3) days of your Ebay Invoice date. There are NO exceptions unless you e-mail in advance of the auction close to make special arrangements. Items paid for by check will be held for clearance a minimum of 7 business days. We actively participate in Ebay’s Non-Paying Bidder Program and violators will be reported and kicked of Ebay. If you cannot follow through with the transaction, Please DO NOT BID.
SHIPPING
Buyer pays shipping and insurance or can pick up in the Los Angeles area. PLEASE ALLOW 1 to 5 BUSINESS DAYS for items to packed and shipped. Oversize items that require special packaging may take a little longer. We ship exclusively by UPS within the USA. An additional small handling charge ($5 to $30) MAY BE ADDED for larger items that require special packing, if so, this will be listed in the auction description. All items are packed very well and very carefully. In the unlikely event an item is damaged or lost in shipping, the buyer will need to file the claim with the appropriate shipping company. Items noted to be too large for standard shipping will need to go by Greyhound or freight.
THE REST
ALL SALES ARE FINAL unless an item is grossly misrepresented. All shipping charges are non refundable. We sell VINTAGE items, thus they are USED and should be expected as such. Any extremes in condition will be noted in the items description. Items are described as accurately as possible. Please feel free to ask questions BEFORE you bid. We reserve the right to retract any bids deemed questionable.
Special note on vintage electrical items
ANYTHING that plugs in or runs on batteries are sold as design objects for decorative value only and while the working condition will be noted in the items description, there is no warranty or guarantee on these items due to the fact that they are just that…vintage. Again, ALL SALES ARE FINAL, so please ask questions BEFORE bidding.
Special note on lamps and lighting
Vintage lamps and light fixtures have old wires and sockets. While more often then not, they are safe to use, it is always recommended that you have them checked by a qualified lighting technician prior to using and then have rewired if deemed necessary. We will not be responsible for any electrical hazards or damage.

INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS
Worldwide shipping is available on “most” items. Payment is to be via PAYPAL only (for Canada postal money orders are fine). All International Shipments (except Canada) will ONLY be shipped via EXPRESS AIR with FULL insurance. No Standard AIR, NO Surface and NO sending un-insured with a low value to avoid your country duty fees etc. We have had way to many problems with slow shipments and lost packages. If an item CANNOT be shipped Internationally, we will note this is the items description. A small handling charge may be added to International orders. Please fell free to e-mail before the auction closes to get shipping costs etc.
