Since 1978, Cristallerie Daum has been synonymous with creativity in the art of glassmaking.  Uncontested Masters of Art Nouveau, the artists and craftsmen of Daum have also ahd a lasting influence on the Art Deco and contemporary art movements.  Daum creations are exhibited in museums all over the world and fetch record prices in international auctions!  Since then numerous artisis have created sculptures for Daum in limited editions, using the medium of  pate de verre.  The art of pate de verre was known to the Egyptians as early as 1500 B.C. and blossomed again in France at the beginning of the 20th Century.  This rare material is made from splinters of coloured crystal that are molten, poured into a lost wax mould and fired at an extremely high temperature for one week.  The mould is then broken to reveal a unique peice in pate de verre.  Born in Paris on the 19th of February 1912, Nane Scialom is first interested in painting then sketching before becoming fascinated by sculpture.  Her work is dedictaed to the Human Form, her preference being nude studies and nude works of art.  Daum has selected the "Femme Nue"  (naked Woman), a female figure lost in her htought and leaning seriously on one arm, to express in Pate De Verre all the artistry found in studies of the Human Form.

Dimensions:  Length of Nude is approximately 12 " inches tall and widest part of base is approximately 7 1/2" inches wide;
