I was given this bat by veteran bat collector George Lyons the day after he went to a Padres game and met a new player... Dave Winfield.

He gave it to me at a So Cal. card show the next day. I was a card dealer at the time and yet the name Dave Winfield was new to me.

Consequently, I'm pretty sure the bat is from the 1973 season but at the latest it was 1974.

Mears... the leader in bat authentication... has said in their letter of opinion:

Certification #300667

Final Grade A8

Heavy use. Heavy Ball marks. Stitch marks. Bat rack marks. 3" handle crack. Cleat marks. Heavy Pine tar. Correct uniform #31. Autographed.

Rookie Era bat.
