4.6 Octave (Low E) DeMorrow Concert Marimba
If
you are familiar with marimbas, you know Doug DeMorrow's are the best
in the world. All of his instruments are custom & hand made, this
one even more so than normal.
Features- Hand selected Rosewood keyboard Solid wood frame All solid brass hardware Hand felt wrapped frame rail pins All tunable aluminum resonators with hand made resonator stops. Custom cover & resonator nut-driver included.
Pristine condition. No dents, dings, scuffs, scratches, bumps, or bruises.
Dimensions 88" Long 42" Wide (Low end) 20" Wide (High end) 38" Tall Approximate weight: 250lbs
History of the instrument- The
frame rails were made by Doug in the early 90's while he was in
business with Leigh Stevens (who later went on to form Malletech) as
part of a practice marimba. A few years later, the frame was re-built
by Doug to be one of his Concert Marimbas. The same frame rails were
re-used in the new frame. Because the frame rails were made while in
business with Leigh Stevens, the front rail is unsigned and all the
rails feature the Malletech style of joints to connect them to the end
pieces. Because the rails were already lacquered & finished, Doug
chose not to engrave the front rail with his signature at the time the
frame was rebuilt. The resonators were also made at the time the frame
was rebuilt, and were made out of aluminum to make the instrument
easier to assemble / disassemble & transport. It is one of very,
very few DeMorrow's with aluminum resonators. Finally, the keyboard
was replaced approximately 4 years ago with all new bars from DeMorrow.
The
instrument is located in Northern, NJ- 30 minutes from midtown
Manhattan. I really, REALLY, do not want to ship the instrument. It
would be horribly expensive & very difficult to safely pack. If
the buyer is willing to accept the costs & risk, I will do so. I
have put $400 as an over-estimate on the packing & shipping
charges. I will include a copy of the packing & shipping receipt,
and a refund of the difference from the actual cost, with the
instrument. Local pick-up is MUCH preferred. You can hear the
instrument yourself, and I can show you the proper way to assemble /
disassemble it as well.
No international shipping! Sorry.
Please
do not wait until the last minute to bid. The instrument is listed on
several other sites as well as locally and I will end the auction early
if I get an offer locally & the auction has no bids.
Cashier's Check only!
Feel free to email with any questions.
