I obtained these decoys in 1966. I was a youthful Duck hunter at the time. My family owns a marina surrounded by summer cottages. A neighbor and family friend gave these decoys to me as a gift. He was a hand model for a popular department store during this era. They were given to him as a promotional award. He not being a hunter passed them onto me. They have never been used and have remained in their steel carrying case. To the best of my knowledge the company that manufactured them consisted of a family that operated a funeral home in Morrison Illinois ( see pic ). They were captive bred and sold for supplimental income during the depression.These were living ducks and raised for this purpose. the under bellies were vulcanized for waterproofing. They also have a small rope with an lead weight attached for anchoring. They have not been altered in any way. I was told they were offered for sale around the mid 1930's. I do not know the exact date. An advertising clip is displayed in my pictures. Aside from a few superficial scratches and dents on the carrying case these decoys are still in perfect condition. I have to this day never seen any decoys like this. Most people I show them to haven't either. I will submit more pictures to interested parties. I consider these decoys to be extremely rare and are no longer produced. Most of them that were used had the carrying case discarded and the were placed in bags for easier carrying.
