CPU speed and memory are the two most important components determining the performance of a computer system.  Since the CPU speed of high end systems (those that use RDRAM) from a few years ago is still more than sufficient in running almost all of today's applications, memory becomes the key to optimum system performance.   Memory is the least expensive way to dramatically improve your computer’s performance and it is as easy to install as changing the batteries of a flashlight.  The amount of memory you install in your PC not only determines how many programs you can run simultaneously, it also affects how efficiently each program will perform.  When your system runs out of memory it uses your hard drive.   Hard drives have become faster but they are still only a very tiny fraction (1/10000) of the speed of memory.  That’s why your computer stalls when starting and switching screens and programs.  Therefore, you should never allow your PC to run out of memory.  Treat yourself to this cost-effective boost today.  Following is pertinent information pertaining to this set of memory modules.

Tips for installing  RDRAM memory:

1. In dual-channel system always install in pairs ( matched or same) except some old machines that

can take single stick with CRIMM.

2. Never touch the gold connector pad with your bare hand and it is a good idea to release the static

potential of your hands by touching grounded metal surface before installing.

3. Don’t mix up PC800 with PC600 or PC700;  that will make the system run at the lowest speed.

4. You may install same type of pairs with different capacity or even different brands, such as one pair of

512MB Infineon PC800 and one pair of Samsung 256MB PC800 in the same system.

5. You may mix a pair of ECC (error correcting code) with a pair of non-ECC modules.  This will cause the

system to disable the ECC function of the ECC modules, makes them function like NonECC modules.

6. Fill up all memory sockets on the motherboard with pairs of RDRAMs or CRIMMs in the spare sockets.
