We quote from Dennis Oppenheim's artist statement concerning the final result of his vision — a mixed media sculpture of steel, plywood, hard foam, sheetrock and art books that is now part of the permanent collection at The Contemporary Museum in Honolulu: "The role of the teeth designate 'art books' as a conceptual bite. The 'knocked out teeth' signify entire sections of art history missing from the collection of writings."
