Many of you have inquired about the binding for Designer Purse Albums™. The core is the MOST important element in the construction of the purse. Over the months, I have practiced with many different techniques and materials. This core is the best and strongest I have ever used. It is flexible and lies flat when opened. It also has a reinforced binding to accomodate the weight of a filled purse.

Design Instruction!!

Ever sit down to create your next masterpiece and *nothing* comes to mind?? I have been there!

I explore Perception, Balance, Motion, Consistency, Variety, Texture and Cohesion!! ALL of these make for a *positive* Perception on the part of the reader or perspective buyer. Each topic is broken down into easy to understand terms and I incorporate specific examples as I walk you through the design process.

After you are done making all of the Designer Purse Albums™ you desire, use these same techniques for ALL types of scrapbooking. They work for layouts, paper bag albums, shaped albums, chipboard albums and much more!!

Tips and Techniques to help you create better and faster!

Learn from my mistakes. lol!! Let me tell you, there have been plenty. :) However, some of my BEST designs came from 'fixing' a mistake.

I devote FOUR chapters to techniques and incorporate more throughout the book!! There are LOTS of pictures for you to see exactly what I mean. I separated the technique information out, so you would have it as an *easy reference tool* while you are embellishing.

For those that may not be familiar with my purses, I do use sewing in this project. It does not require specialized stitching. A regular sewing machine works perfectly. The majority of the stitching is decorative only. If you would like to create these projects but prefer not to sew, email me after your purchase and i will give you specific instructions.

Supply Lists!!

At the beginning of each chapter, I tell you what you need for that chapter. I found this less intimidating than giving you just one list that looks huge but isn't really, when it is broken into sections.

I share the brand of glue I use. This stuff holds *everything*!! It's fantastic and I use it for almost all of the construction in the album. Let me tell you, I have tried *alot* of glues as I am certain you have too and this one *really* works!!

My Collections!!!

History of Designer Purse Albums™

Designer Purse Albums™ began with an idea I had in early 2006. I was browsing through EBay and the only purse album on EBay was a Flirty Purse. I was drawn toward the purse idea but the design elements of a Flirty Purse did not interested me. The shape was reminiscent of a 50’s style purse. It had one handle made with ribbon and it opened from top to bottom.

I challenged myself to create something fresh, fun and completely new...not so easy to do on EBay. lol! After a bit of thought, it occurred to me. What do women love more than anything??! Of course…shoes...and purses!!! *Designer* Purses to be exact and the idea sprang to life.

I began by researching Designer Handbags. I must have printed over one hundred pictures from the internet. I circled the design elements on each bag that appealed to me. After that, I spread the pages out on the floor and the first one began to take shape in my mind.

I made sure to include major Designer Handbag elements. I could not use the construction I had seen for Flirty Purses. Those purses opened from top to bottom and I wanted mine to open sideways. I needed that very important element so I could put two handles instead of only one. Then I wrapped two ribbon handles *all of the way* around the bag and used metal as the connection for the handles. Brads were perfect as embellishment. They look exactly like what you would expect to see on a real Designer Handbag. I eventually experimented with beaded handles as well and loved them.

I had a very specific idea on what shape I wanted. While a 50's style purse is cute, I created Designer Purse Albums™ to reflect the shape of what inspired them...contemporary and fashionable designer purses! I incorporated other key designer purse elements. For example, I added a pocket on the front with a pull out tag; and of course, every Designer Handbag must have a gorgeous hangtag. Lastly it needed a name and Designer Purse Album™ was born.

All the Fine Print

As with all media, there are laws that protect the content, ideas and photos. I include a chapter on Legal Use and Limitations in the book but most of that is plain logic and ethics we all use.

I have taken the steps to educate myself and employ the services of a legal firm to register Designer Purse Albums™ and Rainedakota Designs™ as Trademarks.

This firm is also assisting me in obtaining a Design Patent for Designer Purse Albums™. A design patent is a specific patent for the protection of the visual and ornamental characteristics or combination of characteristics of an article of manufacture. For example, design patents protect the shape and look of a chair, puppet or doorknob; or the visual elements used in *combination* that make the product unique.
I do not claim rights to any specific materials or products used in Designer Purse Albums™. For example, the name brand of paper, flowers, or brads is not claimed as part of the Design Patent.

My application for a Design Patent on Designer Purse Albums™ does *not* presume to include *all* purse shaped scrapbooks. A good example is the Flirty Purse. Both are purse shaped scrapbooks, but that is where any similarity ends. They are radically different in almost all of their visual construction. I cover the ten different visual construction elements that make the Designer Purse Album™ unique in the book.
