This flight reaction, or spooking, varies from horse to horse.

Some react at pretty much anything they perceive to be unusual or surprising. Some hardly react to anything. Some react blindly, some merely tense up.

Spooking can be caused by physical discomfort from cervical problems. Spooking can be caused by uncertainties rooted in fear, trust, attention and respect issues.
