It has both manual ranging and autorange options. With autorange mode, the meter selects the best range for the input detected and allows you to switch test points without having to reset the range. And with manual ranging mode, you can select the range and allows you to override autorange and lock the meter in a specific range. By default the meter is set autorange mode where measurement functions have more than one range.

Another advantage of GVA-18B is that it has a serial data output function and can be connected with PC by USB interface, so the measured data can be recorded, analyzed, processed and printed by PC. Just connect the meter's OPTICAL PORT and PC's USB port with the USB line/cable (included in the set for free) and install the PC-Link software and USB driver in your PC. It's that easy and you can measure and view the synchronic data or graph in the software interface!
