Publisher's Note
A storm at sea washes a young pickpocket, Hugh, and a surgeon's son, Raymond, overboard. Landing on the strange island world of Dinotopia, Raymond and Hugh learn the meaning of real courage and true friendship, with the help of a reclusive Skybax named Windchaser.
In the lush fantastical world of Dinotopia, dinosaurs and humans live harmoniously in a unique society with a culture, philosophy, and written language all its own. A storm at sea washes a young pickpocket and a surgeon's son overboard and they land in Dinotopia, where they learn the real meaning of courage and friendship.

Industry reviews
Gr 5-7 Set in the 1860s, this novel is an unsuccessful sequel to James Gurney's Dinotopia (Turner, 1992). Raymond, 13, and Hugh, a young street thief, are shipwrecked on Dinotopia Island, where humans and dinosaurs live in idyllic harmony. Raymond adjusts quickly, but Hugh's hard life has not prepared him for this peaceful communal existence. His feelings of inadequacy are echoed in Windchaser, a reclusive dinosaur, and he resolves to communicate with the outcast creature. The story is episodic and choppy. Characters are introduced and disappear, sometimes within a single page, distracting attention from the main story line. Dialogue is equally inconsistent. Hugh's London street dialect comes and goes at random and Raymond often slips into unnaturally formal speech. The clich?-filled writing and intrusive philosophizing also contribute to the lack of continuity. Dinotopia lacks the logical foundation necessary for a fully realized imagined world. Brian Jacques's ``Redwall'' series (Philomel) provides readers with more believable, better defined animal fantasy. Elaine E. Knight, Lincoln Elementary Schools, IL

Thank you for visiting my book store. I'm proud to offer reasonably priced combined shipping for multiple book purchases. In order to qualify for this low rate, you must pay for all of your books in one payment. Please click Buy it Now on each book you buy, but once you've confirmed your purchase, do not make any attempts to pay until you're completely done shopping. Once you're done, you can either "do it yourself" making use of the shipping table below, or you can email me for an easy to pay invoice. Thanks so much for your cooperation!

Condition Rating Definition
New Absolutely new, from the store - I guarantee it!
Like New Looks brand new to me, but I can't 100% guarantee it
Excellent Nearly flawless - minimal, if any, flaws. Flaws that may appear on an "excellent" rated book might be: slight edge wear, dog eared page(s), slight dents/impressions in cover, light spine cracking, small amounts of removeable sticker residue, etc.
Good Most of my books will be this condition. Book may have mild to moderate flawing, but nothing that will affect its readability, and will still look okay cosmetically. Flaws that may appear on a "good" rated book might be: creased cover, moderate shelf wear, torn but nicely repaired page tears, spine cracking, names written on or in book, slight yellowing from age, etc.
Fair Moderate to heavy flawing - it will be perfectly readable, but it won't be pretty to look at. My "fair" books are usually heavily worn (possibly even a used library book), but the book will be intact (i.e. all pages and covers present, no loose pages, no covers hanging on by a thread, etc)
Poor Unreadable - pages falling out, major flaws. I won't sell anything in poor condition, so you don't need to worry about this!
