I GENERATION RENOVATION!!! VERY RARE FIND READY FOR YOUR RE-DO!! All you HGTV addicts will love this opportunity!
Distressed school property located on over 5 acres in the town of Antler, North Dakota. This property is located just one mile from the Canadian border & includes 3 large buildings: 3 story limestone yellow brick schoolhouse, 1965 built modern elementary school, and a step-down gymnasium inside a large metal quonset. SOLD AS IS! Annual taxes $172.00 in 2007!!
Would make a great hunting lodge, home, Bed & Breakfast, or whatever you have in mind. The bell is still in the tower, and remains the property of the city of Antler
The 3 story yellow brick (maybe Chicago brick) schoolhouse was built in 1905 and features a basement with several rooms, coal room and auger, 1st floor features brick & stone step entrance (inside wooden white building at front), two large classrooms, & staircase to second & third floors. 2nd floor features 2 large classrooms with a small room above the lower entryway with a large paldium window (above entryway in front), 3rd floor is mostly attic where pigeons have made their home for the past many years, and a center classroom. This building has many broken windows and would most likely need to be stripped down to the studs and re-wired (has the old spool and wire electrical, disconnected right now), or gutted. Structure is of brick, stone and 10 X 10 in attic. Roof is shedding it's shingles.
The elementary school was built in 1965 of block and brick construction and features a single story with block inside walls and a flat roof. Rooms include: a boiler plant room, an office with a 5 X 8 walk-in safe, boys and girls bathrooms, a science room with a storage room, kitchen with triple sink, cupboards, pantry, serving alcove with pull-down metal door, dish alcove with pull-down metal door, a lunchroom, 2 other large classrooms, and a library that is full of books. This building is in pretty good shape overall, with newer electricity (that works), I've never turned the water on.
The quonset houses a step down gymnasium with a full basketball court, a full stage with velvet cutains, working footlights and backstage area, and concrete step seating along both sides for the fans. I would estimate the ceiling at about 40' in height when inside. There are also locker rooms below ground level, but I've never been in them as they are filled with water (some prankster).
This property will be sold AS-IS with quit-claim deed conveying to the buyer upon payment.

Items that have been asked:
The gym has a tiled basketball floor, not wood.
I have never turned on the water or fired up the boiler.
The buildings have been sitting empty since at least 1990, and have suffered break-ins, broken windows & weather.
I'm adding an aerial view to help show the size of the property and buildings. The lines are not exact, but close!
I OWN this property...quit claim deed transfers ownership and ends any claim I have to the property.
There is no Buy It Now price...bidding has already started.
I'm selling it because I'm moving closer to my grandkids, don't have the cash to do this huge renovation, and my dream of owning a hunting lodge has changed, making it available to someone else.
I'm amazed by all the interest and am happy you all can see the same "Diamond in the Rough" that I saw...thank you.
On May-18-08 at 10:26:37 PDT, seller added the following information:I just left the property a little while ago...want to update condition of a ceiling in the old building. The combination of weather , moisture and pigeons in the attic space has caused the lathe ceiling to come partially down in the front classroom on the second floor. The beams are still in place. Just the lathe and plaster and pigeon leavings tumbled down. This would have had to be gutted anyway, but want to be sure to give any bidder the opportunity to e-mail me and request their bid be cancelled, if this is too big a project for you. Thanks.
