I was surprised to find this movie in color. Watching it took me back to the movies of my childhood. The kids are as cute as hell. The bulk of the movie is an 'old house' style mystery with the kids jumping from the frying pan to the fire and back throughout. It's quite racist; with those scenes edited out it might still appeal to small children. The kid gang is not as precocious as the original gang in the black and white shorts, but this full colour long version is a laugh a minute. The acting of some of the adults is a bit flat, but the kids save the show with great dramatic and comedic talents. (Of course, we don't know how many times the scenes were shot, but the results that made it to the printed movie are charming.) The rolling marble and the collapsing chair are just two of the hilarious sight gags. And the gorilla rates an honourable mention. .............51 minutes...........
