I painted Gracie a few months ago and after looking at the painting (10”x8”) I got this idea to do a larger piece with sliding doors. I have to admit it took a lot longer than I imagined doing the construction and painting of the addition. I have been working for weeks on it. I admit I love the way it came out but would never do it again. I feel lucky that I managed to finish it because I wanted to put it aside so many times.
Then today when I started taking photos I thought I would lose it, I could not get the photos to look square. The piece is level and square but there seemed no way I could get the photos to come out showing that. I have been creating things lately that have some way of involving the viewer. I enjoy building moving parts. There are holes in the piece behind the doors that are for screws to attach it to the wall. The doors come off of the piece.
The complete piece measures 17”x12.5”x1.5”, the doors measure 4.5”x9.5” and the painting itself measures 10”x8”. The painting is done in oils and the majority of the construction piece is done in artist acrylics. This piece is an original and is copyrighted.
