Balinese Musical Handcraft

Hello,

Kecrek is a traditional Indonesian percussion that is commonly used during a wayang performance. Traditional kecrek is made using metal plates that is pounded with a wooden stick.

This kecrek is handmade in Bali, Indonesia, using suar wood for the plates and hibiscus wood for the decorational handle. This piece combines traditional instrument with beautiful woodwork artistry. The plates expand and collapse in an accordian motion creating a uniform "rap-tap-tap" sound.
