In this guide to shopping for cosmetics, the author compares the claims of specific products to their actual performances. After testing each cosmetic, she shares her results and lists both the products that live up to their promises and the products that are likely to be nothing more than expensive disappointments to consumers. Her reviews of over 10,000 brand name cosmetics include M.A.C., Clarins, Club Monaco, Givenchy, Lancome, Max Factor, Maybelline, Prescriptives, Vichy, Yves St. Laurent, and Zhen. This book runs the gamut for all cosmetics, from cheap drug store counter makeup all the way to the high end exclusive boutique makeup counter items. What is nice is that there is a comprehensive product by product review with a "best of products" section, detailed by product, ie. best foundation, best mascara, best facial masque, best concealers, best moisturizers, etc." This 4th edition also includes a comprehensive section on anti aging and updated SPF information.
