The Focke-Wulf 190 needs little introduction as one of the most successful German fighters to serve with the Luftwaffe in WWII. The A-5 variant entered service in late 1942 and was most noticeably different from its predecessors by a 15cm increase in nose length to accommodate the more powerful BMW 801 D-2 powerplant. The subject of this kit incorporated the further addition of enlarged air-intake tubes feeding the supercharger to improve high altitude performance. Armament consisted of 2 MG17 7.92mm machine guns in the nose and a pair each of MG FF and MG151 20mm cannon in the wings while max speed was 650km/h with a service ceiling of 10600 m.
This is a new kit with finely engraved panel lines and a wealth of detail. It is moulded in medium gray styrene and contains colorful decals for a machine flown by noted ace Hermann Graf, and another machine flown by Erich Hondt. The kit also includes a small fret of stainless steel photo-etch to detail the cockpit. Add a Fw-190 A-5 to your collection of Luftwaffe fighters today! Paint and plastic cement not included.
