Sorvall RC-28S
You are bidding on one used DuPont Sorvall RC-28S Refrigerated Vacuum Centrifuge in pretty good cosmetic condition. It has some scratches and scrapes from normal use and transportation, but nothing too major. As shown in the photos it is missing one of the side panels.
We have tested this centrifuge and found it to be in partially working condition. It powers on with no trouble, all the menus are navigable (though some features a passcode-protected and we do not have the passcode). The temperature cools rapidly to the set range, but will not go colder than -13 Celsius (compressor shuts off at -13, even when set lower).
When we attempt to start this centrifuge, it does one of two things. The first problem we noticed is that it begins complaining about the vacuum sensor. Most often the error is "vacuum sensor failure" though sometimes we get the error "Vacuum release failure" in conjunction. When we do not encounter these two codes, pressing 'run' sends us back to the program menu with the entry for the rotor flashing. The manual indicates that this means the entry is invalid. We have attempted all rotor codes listed in the manual (including the code for the GSA rotor we used for testing) but the centrifuge always returned to the programming screen with the rotor code flashing.
Due to our inability to get this centrifuge to spin, we are selling it AS IS DESCRIBED with NO WARRANTY. We stand behind the functions we have described as working (it cools to -13 Celsius) But will give NO REFUND FOR THE DESCRIBED ISSUES OR PROBLEMS CAUSED BY THOSE ISSUES.
Due to the size and weight of this item, freight shipping will be the only shipment method available. Buyer is responsible for all shipping charges and expenses.
If you require an estimate on freight shipping, please post a question with your full address, the provisions for unloading the item, and whether your address is business or residential. Alternately, we allow for buyers to visit us for pickup in person, just call ahead and set a time to come in.
Centrifuge requires 220-volt power. Plug head is twist-lock type.
