This auction is for a antique man's E. Howard hunting cased pocket watch. The watch has the orginial14k gold case. The case measures 53 mm or about 2 1/8 inches in diameter and is a size 18 (N size).
The movement is marked as follows "E. HOWARD & CO BOSTON" and the serial number "222696". This serial number means that this watch was made between 1880 and 1899. The movement is also marked with a deer or stag indicating the watch is adjusted to 6 positions. I believe the movement is 15 jewels. It is stem wind and stem set.
The porcelain dial is marked "E. HOWARD & CO BOSTON" and is a Moorhouse dial .The case cover is marked "E.H. CO.WARRANTED 14K US ASSAY 999489. The dust cover is marked "ALFRED FROM HARRY" in engraved script. The outside of the cover has a monogram.
The watch is in good running order.
The condition of the case and dial are as follows: the dial has a tiny nick at the "55" position of the second bit and there is an extremely tight 1/8 inch hairline that runs from this nick to the center hole for the hands. The case is clean except for two small dents on the outside edge trim at around the number 5 and 8, please see photos. Great size and feel with solid orginial gold case.
