This is a very beautiful example of A RARE AND VERY UNIQUE ALL-ORIGINAL E. Ingraham Mantle Clock in near perfect 100% ALL ORIGINAL condition.

This is the way we like to find them, is really nice and most unusual. It’s the only one we’ve ever seen like it. It was made in circa 1885. It is an unbelievable, beautiful mantle clock in need of a warm loving home. It has a signed "E Ingraham Clock Co" 8 day time and strike movement which strikes the half-hour on a bell and counts the hours on the hour on a cathedral gong on the bottom (rare). Sounds great with a beautiful mellow tone on the cathedral gong, and sweet sounding bell. The movement runs very well and keeps good time.

The movement was just cleaned, oiled, pivots polished and bushings added where needed.

This clock will not need servicing for many years to come, and is ready for the next 100 years! This is a labor intensive service, with many clockmakers charging 250.00 and up. We recommend having it oiled every 2 to 3 years to keep it in tip-top shape! With the purchase of this clock for an additional $ 2.25 we will include an oiler kit with a professional oiler loaded with enough oil to oil approximately 50 clocks with easy instructions so you could even do it yourself! The case is all original and beautiful with the original black shiny finish! The case is made of heavy solid wood with an unusual and beautiful classic Victorian design. The beautiful condition original dial is there, almost looks like new with a great antique patina.

The signed dial is crisp and easy to read and is in near perfect condition.

Also you can adjust the time (slow or fast) on the little wheel on the dial, this is especially nice so that you don’t have to take the clock down off the shelf to adjust the time for slow and fast. The cathedral gong is original – and has a very nice mellow sound. The hands are great and original! Complete with the original Ingraham pendulum bob and a new key. The clock measures 11 ¼” high X 16” wide and 7 ¼ ” deep These antique clocks amaze me - could you imagine any other consumer product still working perfectly after 120 years! And the truly amazing thing it is ready for the next 100 years.

Antique Clocks are a Fine Investment.

Each one has a unique quality, as well as appreciating in value and beauty with age. You will become attached to your antique clocks and they will become a meaningful and important part of your life adding untold joy each day you own them. They can be handed down from one generation to another as they increase daily in value. Antique clocks serve many purposes other than being useful in telling time, decorative in your home, a valuable asset in your estate and above all a faithful servant and friend which will be true to you to the end of time.

This fine clock has been completely overhauled and cleaned. The main cause of antique clocks’ no longer working is that they need a good cleaning.

Over time, the oil in the pivots gathers dust and particles of metallic grit, the result of normal wear. Also the oil breaks down and becomes thick and gummy, and actually acts like glue. The result is that the gears no longer turn freely, and the clock stops. A good cleaning usually is all the clock needs to be almost like new again! The cleaning procedure involves taking the movement out of the case and totally dismantling the movement. All the gears, rods, etc., are taken off of the clock plates and are hand scrubbed and inspected for wear. The springs are taken out of the barrels, stretched out, and hand cleaned and polished. The plates are thoroughly cleaned. Then all the parts are placed in an ultrasonic cleaning machine for the final cleaning. The pivots are polished on the lathe and the pallets are polished. Bushings are installed on any pivot holes that have become “egg shaped” from wear to make them perfectly round again. The movement is reassembled and oiled. (We use only the finest German Clock Oil). The springs are placed back and greased with top-quality synthetic spring grease and the complete movement is placed on a "running stand" and run for several days to insure all is well. It is easier to detect misalignments, bent rods, and worn pivots and gears while it is running in full view. We like to run the movement for over a week to be sure it will run a full 8 days on one winding, and that everything is well. By that time, any problems will usually show up. The final result is a movement that runs just like new! If you like we will include instructions and hints to keep it that way for the next 100 years (or more!)

This clock will be packed VERY VERY CAREFULLY by our “award winning” (receiving a perfect “10” from a gracious customer) packing department

(my wife, aided by Wild Thing; master packing kitty) to insure a safe delivery and the buyer is to pay $23.50 for packing, shipping and ins. I will gladly answer any emails promptly. I have always hated that "reserve" when I have bid myself so this fine clock has no reserve and a very very low (gulp) starting bid. We love these clocks and I will be glad to help you set up your new clock, or answer questions long after the sale via email.

On Nov-05-09 at 18:39:50 PST, seller added the following information:

Hello! We are going to the NAWCC Regional in New Orleans. Going in our vintage Airstream (with all the kitties!) from November 8 to the 19th. We are staying at campgrounds the entire trip so we’ll probably have little internet access until we return. We’ll try to get to a Starbuck, etc. but sometimes this is not possible with all the traveling, etc. If you have any questions or problems we'll be here after the 19th to help! We can ship promptly upon our return. Sorry for the inconvenience. Bryon, Donna and Miss Kitty
