Still beautiful today after more than one hundred years!

Heart With Thumbprint

6" Plate or Saucer

Ready to join your glassware display right now!

Welcome to our auction!  Here you're bidding on a plate or saucer in the Heart With Thumbprint glassware pattern from Tarentum Glass Company.  Produced between 1898 and 1906, this pattern was originally named Hartford by the manufacturer.  Collectors today also know it as Bulls Eye In Heart, Columbia, and Columbian.  Use whatever name you will, it's still a beautiful pattern that collectors just never seem to get enough of.

Our plate measures about 6-1/2" in diameter and has a deep center, similar to a saucer.  Since the only cups in this pattern were small punch cups we're guessing this was formed as such possibly to serve as an under plate with a small berry or dessert bowl.  In spite of use and age exceeding one hundred years it's in very nice condition.  The piece has great mould impression and a crisp well defined pattern.  Clarity of the glass is very good and there's no hard water stain or other discoloration. There are no obvious utensil or stacking scratches on the plate. It does have a couple of tiny "flea bites" as well as one slightly larger nick (about 1/8" diameter) on its serrated edge.  These small insults are practically invisible, more likely to be felt with a finger tip than seen by the eye.  They're fairly typical of glassware of this age and style and are commensurate with normal use. All in all we feel like  it's a piece that displays very nicely and should be welcomed into just about any collection.

We're the first to admit that the recent condition of the economy has us buffaloed.  We have no idea how to value these items any longer and judging by prices we see on line and in shoppes, neither do a lot of other folks.  Our feeling is that today, more than ever, an item is worth exactly what someone is willing to pay for it. So, keeping that idea in mind, bidding here opens at only $4.99 with no reserve.  Shipping will be by winner's choice of insured Priority Mail or Parcel Post.  As always, we'll pack carefully to assure safe arrival.  Shipping weight will not exceed one and one half pounds.
