Offered for your bidding consideration is this wonderful handblown no longer produced Art Nouveau Art Deco one of a kind "Baton" vase by world renowned art glass artist Mathew Buechner of Thames Street Glass of Newport Rhode Island. Mathew is the brother of Thomas Buechner III (former head of Vitrix Glass of Corning New York, now retired) and the son of the former head of Corning Glass, Thomas Buechner II. Mathew started his glass blowing career in the late 1970's and opened his studio in the early 1980's. This wonderful piece of art glass was discontinued several years ago and retailed for $200 when it was available. It is a tall heavy piece of glass that consists of cranberry colored interior (slightly darker at the bottom than the top due to it's thickness) with clear glass "wings" on the sides and a heavy crystal layer of glass throughout. It measures almost 13 & 1/2" tall and about 4 & 1/2" at its widest point. It is properly signed "Mathew Buechner@ Thames Glass" and comes out of my personal collection. It is in great shape and is free of chips, cracks, nicks or repairs. This vase would make a great addition to anybodys art glass collection! Shipping insurance is required for all purchases. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions and please review my other listings for more unusual and unique art glass wonders produced by some of the worlds best art glass artists! |
