Here is a Top Quality Early Georgian Style Coffee Pot Made in the Queen’s Coronation Year 1953 by the Famous London Silversmith, Richard Comyns, in Fully Hallmarked English Sterling Silver
The Coffee Pot has a Lovely Fruitwood Handle, a Finely Engraved Armorial Shield and Handsome “Cut Card” Work – Excellent Condition

This is an exceptionally fine early Georgian style Coffee Pot made by the famous London silversmith, Richard Comyns, in the Queen’s Coronation year of 1953 in fully hallmarked English sterling silver.

The turret peaked lid is topped with a fine finial and there is a handsome scrolled thumb hinge in good working order.

There is a fine armorial shield engraved on the side of the Coffee Pot and it surrounds the initials “NA”.

The decorative work around the spout and handle is a rare feature in this form and is known as cut card work.

A nicely turned fruitwood handle is securely attached to the body of the Coffee Pot. Overall the pot is in excellent condition, with only a few minor dings consistent with its age and usage.

This is a fine Coffee Pot, exhibiting top quality workmanship.
The Coffee Pot is an early Georgian shape ten inches high (10 ins / 25.5 cms) and four and a half inches in diameter across the base (4.5 ins / 11.0 cms). It has an overall weight of almost twenty-seven ounces (26.9 ozs / 761 grams).

The maker’s mark shown above is “RC” over a dot in a shield cartouche for Richard Comyns.
The clear hallmarks are the lion passant guarantee mark for English sterling silver, the leopard’s head town mark for London, the letter “S” the date letter for 1953 and the coronation mark for Queen Elizabeth the Second.
