Stunning Econolite "Bus and Truck" Motion Lamp
Never been used - in box for over 47 years
This is an absolutely superb Econolite Motion Lamp featuring a bus on one side and a truck on the other.
'Hand printed' and marked '© 1961 Econolite Corp Litho, USA' which is printed on the main Shade below the right passenger tire of the Bus. On the inside it is printed 776 C 1962 ECONOLITE CORP HAND PRINTED U S A. I show this in the last two photos. This is another reason this lamp is so very rare and Highly Collectible. The main shade is signed: "ABL" A B Leech
This is one of the hardest to find Econolite Motion Lamps and in this HAND PRINTED OVAL FORMAT AND NEVER USED IS EXTREMELY SCARCE.
This Motion Lamp is featured on page 60 of The Collectors Guide to Motion Lamps, by Sam and Anna Samulian. Here is some of what is stated in the book about this lamp:
"An excellent lamp...Very hard to find...Hand Printed Version featuring diverse pastel colors..."
When in motion the bus and truck's wheels spin as the road passes beneath them, and the countryside goes by behind them. Also the truck puffs black smoke from it's stack, and the lovely mountain sunset glows behind in the distance...
The details are fabulous!!! It is easy to see why it is so highly desired by collectors! There is also something about the AB Leech artwork that makes it extra unique...
This lamp is incredible whether on or off. The Hand Printed Lithograph gives it a richness of color and texture not found on standard printed motion lamps. These Hand Printed Oval Specimens are the Rarest and most Prized of the Econolite lamps, they are sometimes the prototypes, and were produced in very small numbers.
THE CONDITION IS MINT!! Brought to the UK in the 60's as a gift - because the mains plug and bulb holder were not the right type for UK sockets and bulbs (at that time) it went back in its box. I acquired this lamp recently and I have an adapter which will be included. Having put the adapter on the plug, this was the first time this lamp was turned on which was less than two weeks ago.
No damage, colours are bright, no tarnishing to brass plate - just superb. Includes original plain box.
Must be one of the best examples of this lamp in existence
PLEASE NOTE: FREE SHIPPING TO ALL STATES. SHIPPING TO OTHER COUNTRIES WILL BE MINIMAL
