It's a recurring nightmare among NFL quarterbacks: Michael Strahan catches you in his sights, bears down and comes a-charging, then delivers a bone-crushing tackle. Of course, that is a recurring dream for fans of the New York Giants, who cheer like crazy every time the game's premier defensive end makes a tackle or records another sack. A Giant since he was drafted in the second round back in 1993, Strahan's achievements are staggering and certain to gain him entry into the Hall of Fame one day. He set an NFL record with 22.5 sacks in 2001/2002, is currently the Giants' all-time sack leader, and helped lead them to victory in Super Bowl XLII. Eli Manning, quarterback of the New York Giants, has improved his game each year since joining the team in 2004, building to a remarkable 2007 season that saw Big Blue earn a wild card spot in the NFL playoffs with a 11-5 record and shake off underdog status to defeat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers in the playoffs. And, finally, on Feb. 3, 2008, Manning and the Giants shocked with the world with a 17-14 victory over the previously undefeated New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII. With "ice in his veins," as one teammate put it, Manning went 19-34 with 255 and two clutch touchdowns, earning Super Bowl XLII MVP honors.
Eli Manning and Michael Strahan have each hand signed this NY Times Cover Reprint from February 4th, 2008.
