EMERSON 540A EMERSONETTE MIDGET BAKELITE TUBE RADIO

Vintage vacuum tube Art Deco Emerson Emersonette Midget Brown Bakelite Radio made circa late 1947. The 540A came in four different colored bakelite, red, green, white and brown.  Emerson built two series of "Emersonette" radios.  The prewar 1939 series was the model CF-255.  This  postwar 1947 series is the model 540A.  The cabinets were similar, the major differences being the 540A  model had the eggcrate grille and the dial calibrations were on a clear plastic cover rather than embossed into the case itself.  Internally they were much different.  The knobs on the postwar models were always black.  The knobs on the prewar version had knobs which matched the cabinet color except the brown one which always seems to have black knobs. All had black bullet style knobs. In its day it was claimed to be "the world's smallest ac/dc superhet." The cases are very fragile and as a result relatively few have survived.

THIS RADIO HAS NOT BEEN TESTED - IT HAS ONE WIRE HANGING OUT BACK - I WAS AFRAID TO PLUG IT IN - THE CASE IS IN NR MINT CONDITION NO CRACKS OR CHIPS - BACK COVER IS DAMAGED - VOLUME & DIAL KNOB WORKS AS IT SHOULD - RADIO IS SOLD AS IS WITH NO RETURNS - PLEASE LOOK OVER PHOTOS FOR MORE DETAILS - THANKS FOR LOOKING.
