EMILE LOUIS PICAULT (FRENCH 1833-1915) BRONZE SCULPTURE

This is a very fine and rare original French 19th century bronze statue of a 14th Century Rakish Cavalier, signed by the listed artist - Emile Louis Picault (French, 1833-1915) 'ESCHOLIER 14IEME SIECLE', signed at the base.

The standing figure of a cavalier clutching a bible under his arm with a sword suspended from a chain, impressed signature on back of base "E. Picault" Labeled on front of base "Escholier, 14ieme Siecle", mounted to a black/green marble base.

Emile Louis Picault was a noted sculptor of historical figures, mythological subjects, and portraits. He was associated with the French Symbolists, and exhibited regularly in the Salon de Paris between 1863 and 1909.

 

AUTHENTICITY AND SATISFACTION IS GUARANTEED.

 

Statue has gorgeous detail, and is in excellent condition with beautiful medium brown patina.

Overall 26 ¼ inches high, 10 ¼" wide, and 9 ½ inches in diameter at the base.
