SUPERB PIN KIENTZVILLE EGLOMISE ENAMEL ART NOUVEAU 1910

Genuine Kientzville (Bas-Rhin) Art Nouveau period Shield and Bar pin circa 1910 ; the shield for Kientzville (Bas-Rhin) hangs from the bar. There are vestiges of writing across the front of the bar, now totally effaced. The excutcheon shield for Kientzville (Bas-Rhin) is done in red églomisé enamel on metal. Please see all the photos; there are no maker's marks that we can discern. It's a doozie anyway.

SIZE :
• This measures overall approximately 1.5 inches x 1.5 inches.
• Actual weight is 2.9gr.

The Beaux Arts period is approximately from 1880 to 1910. The Art Nouveau period overlaps the Beaux Arts period and is approximately from 1890 through 1920. The Art Deco period follows the Art Nouveau period and overlaps it, and is from approximately 1920 through 1938. The periods are approximate because styles defining periods do not change abruptly, as in overnight; all the countries using the styles do not change over from the old to the new at precisely the same instant.

Verre églomisé, from the French term meaning glass gilded, is a process where the backside of the glass is gilded with gold or metal leaf using a gelatin adhesive. The result is a mirror-like, reflective finish in which designs are then engraved. The technique dates back to the pre-Roman eras, but its name is derived from 18th century French decorator Jean-Baptise Glomy who is responsible for its repopularization.

CONDITION: By "antique " we mean over 100 years of age. By "vintage"we mean between 50 and 100 years of age. This item is made of matter and it is OLD; this is approximately 100 years of age and this means it is NOT NEW. Please see all the photos. There are signs of age and usage including but not limited to the fact that there are vestiges of writing across the front of the bar, now totally effaced. There is minor surface pitting, minor surface scratches , minor surface wear, oxidation , and / or other irregularities characteristic of and typical of old stuff. There may be other signs or indicators of age and usage that we missed because we aren't specifically trained to see them. The condition is good, there isn't anything functionally wrong with this, and the condition is exactly as shown in the photos; please look at all the photos carefully and read this description carefully. This has not been examined microscopically. We have not taken this apart or put it back together, we've not subtracted anything from it nor added anything to it that was not already there when we got it. We have not cleaned it. We don't know the exact composition of the metal alloys used to make this; we aren't metallurgists and cannot be certain. It is impossible to divine exactly what information a buyer might want. It is the buyer's responsibility to carefully scrutinize a purchase before buying.
